On September 16th 2022, Anne Sofie Børsch has successfully defended her PhD, entitled “Care in classrooms for newcomers: a comparative ethnographic case study of social practices to support learners’ well-being in two classrooms for newly arrived refugee and immigrant adolescents in Denmark“.

Anne Sofie’s PhD thesis examines the role of schools in supporting the psychosocial well-being of newcomer refugee and immigrant adolescents in Denmark, including how newcomer adolescents and teachers in two different school settings engaged with the same psychosocial intervention. Schools are increasingly cited as promising spaces for supporting the well-being of refugee and immigrant learners, but little is known about how such efforts are shaped by particular school contexts.

Anne Sofie has been part of the RefugeesWellSchool-team, as also both her promotors, Prof. dr. Morten Skovdal and Prof. dr. Signe Smith Jervelund, University of Copenhagen.
